About
80 Grit is a metal shop open to all kinds of projects. My name is Kai, and I started this shop because I enjoy solving problems with steel and creating with my hands. I strive for a portfolio with a visible harmony of artistry and pragmatism.​
I've designed and built projects ranging in scope from outdoor dining structures, to chairs and shelves, to trailers and greenhouses. Before starting 80 Grit I worked as construction manager at Black Cat Farm, and there I was fortunate to gain experience playing with all manner of creative solutions, from functional sculpture design to compost and greenhouse systems.
